San Antonio - A Nevada man Rick Dyer, claims he has shot and killed a Bigfoot in San Antonio, Texas. But his claim has only raised an angry uproar among fans of the legendary humanoid who say it is hoax.

KSAT reports that Dyer's announcement that he shot a Bigfoot in San Antonio last September raised interest and caused some excitement in the online Bigfoot community. According to San Antonio City Press, Dyer, who runs a website called BigfootTracker.com, boasts he is "going to go down in history as the best Bigfoot tracker in the world."

KSAT reports he makes a living tracking the mythical creature. He claims that over the past four years he has been on 90 expeditions in search for Bigfoot in the United States, Mexico, Russia and China.

He said: "I have been all over the world searching for Bigfoot. I have moved my family to seven different states. I am dedicated."

Curiously, he has not displayed the body of the Bigfoot he claims to have shot for public inspection. He claims this is because of a contractual agreement he has with a documentary crew which requires that he release the film first.

The Bigfoot hunter claims that he snapped a picture of Bigfoot on his cellphone before he shot it. He claims he shot it in San Antonia, Texas, and according to KSAT, he claims he has one witness, Musky Allen.

The Daily Mail comments that Musky Allen is likely fake.

Allen claims, however, that Dyer invited him to view the corpse. He said: "What I saw was a Sasquatch, and there's no question in my mind it was at one point a living creature. (The feet) were extremely wide from the center up to the toes and it had completely hair-covered feet. So much so, it was extremely hard to find the toes. I had to actually pull back some hair to see the toes."

KSAT reports Dyer averred: "Bigfoot is 100 per cent real. There's no question about that."

He claims that the body is being kept in a warehouse in a location in Nevada he declined to mention.

He attracted Bigfoot into a homeless campsite in the woods close to Loop 1604 and Highway 151 in San Antonio, by nailing pork ribs to the side of a tree. KSAT reports he said: "I nailed... pork ribs from the WalMart down the street to the side of the tree, and low and behold, he came and started eating the pork ribs off the tree."

But his amazement at the appearance of the beast did not stop him from grabbing his cell phone and taking a short video clip of the beast outside his tent.

When the Bigfoot returned a second time, he grabbed his rifle and shot it. Then he rented a truck and transported the body to a location outside of Las Vegas where he has not disclosed and where it remains.

Dyer had no qualms shooting the humanoid beast. He said he came to the campsite in 2009 after he discovered online a 911 call by a homeless man to report a Bigfoot sighting. He said he tracked the caller down on his own.

According to Dyer, the woman and her husband were living in a tent in the area in San Antonio where they reported seeing a "very large, hairy animal" that entered their campsite and helped itself to a deer carcass.

The unidentified woman reportedly told a 911 dispatcher: "This thing was 75 feet away from me. It smells awful and devoured a whole deer carcass and then took off and screamed, screeched, and took off across the street. I know you guys are going to think I'm crazy but I'm dead serious."

But this is not the first time Dyer has made a claim about Bigfoot. In 2008, he and a friend Tom Biscardi, said they had a Bigfoot body and held a news conference to make the announcement.

But no one ever saw the body.

Skeptics refer to the 2008 incident as Bigfoot-in-a-freezer hoax (2008), and to his latest claim as Big-foot-in-a-freezer Part 2.

While skeptics ridicule his claim, Dyer says he will provide proof in an upcoming documentary to be released later in the year. He said: "Once this film comes out in late March or early April, then we're going to start releasing photos and then eventually the body. (Investors) have paid for all the necessary testing to prove that this is an unknown creature and not a man in a suit or a caveman or something. This is a Bigfoot."

KSAT describes Dyer as "an animated character" who admits he is not very popular in the Bigfoot community.

The only reason why Dyer's publicity stunts attract any attention is that there are enough people who believe Bigfoot might be real.

For a man who makes a living from promoting the Bigfoot legend, the motives behind his claims appear self-evident.
