"When Bigfoot Goes Global"

What will happen when the Discovery of Bigfoot goes public? I am sure I am not the only one wondering and anticipating the reactions and ramifications of the Dyer Discovery.
Will the entire world take a collective gasp and then stand still in wonder? In my fantasy it is one of those unifying moments when all of the people on the planet are breathlessly glued to their TV’s and computers, so excited they forget to eat, forego sleep and only pretend to work. Strangers stop each other in the streets, grocery clerks chatter on about it…well, everyone from the President to your 80 year old granny has something to say about it.

Or will this feast for the Bigfoot community be just a shoulder shrug to the jaded people of the world? I am sure there will be some that will be too cool for Bigfoot, or who feign disinterest just to take the wind out of our sails and also those stubborn goats that will deny the truth and refuse to talk about it.
But truly I think it will be revolutionary, however the world reacts at first, the discovery if Bigfoot will be the “paradigm change” we have been babbling about.

First off there will be the Bigfoot community. I would wish the fighting footers would unite under the Dyer banner or at least try to find ways not to kill each other. But maybe that is too idealistic and there will be in-fighting and chaos amidst the celebration.

There will be so many opportunities for the Bigfoot community, in research, education, science and Bigfoot as a commodity will have greater meaning. First the community, then the world will try to ride Rick Dyers infamous techno-color coat tails.

Hopefully the Bigfoot community will be true stewards, steering away from anything that will impact the welfare of Bigfoot of their habitat. Then maybe the Native Peoples and the environmental and animal/human rights activists will join the fray… PETA will form PETB and then decide to re-name the group PETS since PETB doesn't roll off the tongue well.

Religions will have their say…maybe Pope and the Dalai Lama will have a tea to discuss Bigfoot and the merits of saffron vs. scarlet colored robes. Oh, religion looms huge and it will get complicated, I barely want to discuss it here. Religion will be woven with science and experts in so many fields from anthropology to biology to parapsychology will be trying to get involved. A whole other article could be written about the impact of this to the scientific world, to the world of medicine and numerous other fields and I will leave that for another time or another voice.

My belief is that immediate laws will be written and enacted that would make harming a Bigfoot a criminal act. That unfortunately will not discourage the trophy hunters or opportunists out there from committing a crime. In fact once people see the value in killing a Bigfoot, even if it is illegal in the US, there will be those wanting to kill the first Yowie or Orang Pendak or the first Yeti.
Today’s youth will definitely seize on the Bigfoot and start a movement to protect them and we will have marches and T-shirts and Bigfoot Benefits with Bono, Bruce and Stevie Wonder. I am hoping that world leaders would take interest and act to protect the world’s Bigfoot.

With the good there will be fear –mongering and misinformation, mothers pulling their kids out of scouting camping trips, people walking very fast if they have to pass sketchy looking group of trees... I think a lot of people will be shaken from their comfy perch at the top of the food chain.

There is so much that could happen and will happen, more that I can touch on here and more than I can imagine. What I think everyone should realize is that no matter what side of the fence you are sitting, or perhaps wobbling in the middle, the Bigfoot community will part a of a historical moment. Not even just a historical moment, but a moment when myth becomes science, monsters become men and magic becomes real.
